WORKING TOGETHER
Because together everyone achieves more!

Attendance
In order for students to be successful
in school, regular attendance is necessary. Students need
to attend school every day on time. When students are not
in school, they miss important instruction time. Be sure your
child gets plenty of rest the night before a school day so
he/she comes to school ready to learn. Plan vacations around
school holidays.
Following an absence, your child is required to bring a written
excuse from home when returning to school. Illness and doctor
or dental appoinments and the death of an immediate member
of the family are considered excused absences. Other absences
are recorded as unexcused. Children should not be sent to
school when they are not feeling well.
Dress Code
Students who do not dress in uniform
must follow the district guidelines. The following items are
not permitted for school attire:
- Clothing that indicates an affiliation
with a gang or intimidating group
- Caps, hats, bandannas, hairnets or visors
- Oversized pants that fall below the waist
- Baggy shorts with knee socks
- Belts with lettering or longer than waist appropriate
- Halter tops, tank tops, bare midriffs, see-through or
fish net clothing
- Clothing that does not conceal undergarments at all times
- Skirts or shorts shorter than mid-thigh
- Clothing that suggests obscene pictures, wording, and/or
drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex or violence
- Frayed or unfinished hems
- Thongs, thong-like sandals, steel-toed shoes or sandals
without a back strap
Emergency Information
Emergency cards are sent home at the beginning of the school
year and are to be filled out by the parents. Local persons
to call should be listed on the card. If your child becomes
ill or injured at school, you will be called promptly. Therefore,
it is extremely important that these cards are up-to-date.
Two emergency phone numbers must be provided in accordance
with AUSD school board policy.
All visitors are required to check into the office prior
to visiting classrooms. During a lockdown, no one may enter
or leave campus until law enforcement deems the situation
to be safe.
Homework
The faculty at Gladstone Street School believes that homework
is an integral part of education. Homework serves to strengthen
and enrich that which is taught during regular class time.
In addition, homework will:
- Set a pattern for lifelong learning.
- Provide opportunities to build independent study skills.
- Provide opportunities to use out of school learning resources.
- Encourage parent, student and teacher interaction.
Report Cards
Reports will be sent home at the end of the second, third
and fourth quarters. The first will consist of a 3-Way Goal-Setting
Conference in November. This conference will include the teacher,
parent and student together setting goals for the school year.
We encourage good communication between the home and school.
Parents are welcome to request a conference anytime during
the school year.
Back
to top

Gladstone Street encourages parents to participate in school
activities.

Bettina
Hunt is Gladstone Street's new principal. She looks forward
to what we can accomplish and achieve together. She says that
developing and maintaining good schools is a journey, not
a destination. It is a journey made easier by all of us working
together positively in the same direction.
Mrs. Hunt invites parents to participate in school activities.
She feels there is nothing more important than the link between
the home and school.
A Dedicated Staff
Gladstone Street has dedicated staff who work together to
